Gunny along with his mom and 5 other siblings were seeing by one of our fosters roaming the streets in a rural town in central Texas where they live… They were able to find out where they came from and offered assistance because it was too dangerous for a mom and 6 puppies to be walking around rural streets… The owner of the property did not want the dogs on his property, they belonged to an ex convict who he was helping, but did not take care of them…

We offered to take the 6 puppies, because he wanted to keep the mom… We had made arrangements for them to be transported to another rescue in Wisconsin who we work with in order to save dogs from death row… we had gotten the wheels in motion, only to be told by the owner of the pups that he did not want the pups in kennels because he had been in prison and did not want the pups to be caged… This was in April of 2023, the pups were around 6 weeks old…

Our fosters continued to see the pups roam the streets, constantly in danger of getting ran over or shot by the locals… But unfortunately there was nothing that we could do about the situation… As time went by, they saw fewer puppies, until there was only 3 left…

Fast forward to August of 2023, our fosters had been told that the owner who decided not to let us take them, had been kick out of the property and had left the dogs behind…Several people had stopped to talk to our fosters about the pups because many were concerned that they would get ran over or killed because they played in the street… Some of the locals were also feeding them, but no one wanted to take them in… Our fosters made sure that the information was accurate and proceeded to pick the 3 pups and take them to safety in their home…

Since being under our foster’s care, Gunny and his brother have been nothing but playful and just all out goofballs… They love each other, especially their sister, who fortunately has been adopted… They love to be petted, they absolutely love to run and play… After all, they are Labs…

Gunny has not had any incidents in his kennel or inside the house since being brought in… He is good at letting his foster parents know when he needs to potty… Gunny loves to have his belly scratched and be told that he is a good boy… He would do best with an active family who will play with him and keep him busy… Unfortunately, they do not have any kids, so we are not sure how he does with small children, but due to his energy level, it would probably be safe to be around older kids…
